Scaling Up: Institute on Intercultural Learning and Mentoring

The Scaling Up institute will focus on the role of mentoring as a high-impact intervention that is essential to both cross-cultural bridging and institutional change.  Our discussions will focus on 'Scaling Up' Intercultural Learning and, in particular, how to diversify and deepen the buy-in of faculty and student affairs staff through the use of formative assessment approaches, training in research tools and techniques, and mentoring in making soft-skills fun and salient to students across the disciplinary spectrum.

We invite you to spend 1.5 days, February 22-23, 2018, with CILMAR, exploring lessons learned from a 3-year (and counting) experiment to embed intercultural learning into the fabric of a Research One university for ALL students regardless of national origin, ethnicity, major, SES, religion or gender-identity.  The agenda will include a mix of panel discussions, practicums, networking and small-group workshops, as well as a dialogue with corporate leaders on intercultural competence and cross-cultural mentoring in the US domestic workplace.  For more information, including a schedule, please go here.
