The Boiler OUT! Student Leadership

The Boiler OUT! Volunteer Program is facilitated by a dedicated Leadership Team: 

no textClaire Jackson, President, is a junior in Pharmacy from Avon, Indiana. She joined Boiler OUT in Spring 2016, and this will be her second year as a Boiler OUT leader. Claire enjoys running, watching New Girl, drinking coffee, and traveling. As a volunteer, she loves addressing environmental needs and assisting senior citizens as well as inspiring others to find a passion through volunteerism. "I love to volunteer through the Boiler OUT program because I meet people from across the world who all share a passion for volunteering in our community."

JasmohanJasmohan Singh Kahlon is a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the field of electrical engineering from India. Jasmohan has consistently been involved with volunteering since he was a teenager because of the immense joy that it brings in people's lives. Jasmohan has been able to continue to engage in volunteering at Purdue University by being a part of the Boiler student organization. Jasmohan feels that he is welcomed wholeheartedly by the organization members and that he gets to make friends from different walks of life. He remembers having memorable conversations and sharing of ideas after our volunteering events, with members of the Boiler OUT. In order to continue that culture, he decided to become the treasurer and fortify the club's function to continue this wonderful tradition of friendships and giving back to society. In his opinion, joining Boiler OUT Alumni is the greatest way to impact local communities in the Greater Lafayette area.


madMadelin Warsito is a sophomore majoring in Supply Chain Information and Analytics from Jakarta, Indonesia. Madelin joined Boiler OUT in the Spring of 2018 and have enjoyed volunteering in taking care of children the most. Madelin’s hobbies include travelling, swimming, and listening to music of all genres. Through Boiler OUT, Madelin has gotten the opportunity to not only contribute for a social cause but was also able to meet new people from different cultural backgrounds.


SeemaSeema Al-Hiraki is a Pre-Med student majoring in Health Sciences and minoring in Biology and Psychology. She joined Boiler OUT in Fall 2017 and later joined Boiler OUT student leadership in Spring 2018. As someone who is Syrian, and born and raised in Kuwait, Seema enjoys the diversity BoilerOUT brings to Purdue’s campus and the different volunteering opportunities to give back to the community. Aside from volunteering, Seema enjoys playing sports, concerts and traveling! She would love for others to join BoilerOUT to share all the positive experiences with them


ruierRuier Yan is a sophomore major in Supply Chain Information and Analytics from Qingdao, China. She joined Boiler Out in the Spring of 2018 and made the transition to Boiler Out Student Leadership in the Fall of 2018. She loves travelling and learning new languages. For Ruier, food, especially sweets, is the best cure she could find. As a volunteer, she enjoys walking dogs and helping while playing with children. She loves volunteering through Boiler Out because Boiler Out gives her a chance to help others and meet people from different countries.


noVictoria Malone is from New Mexico and a sophomore in Exploratory Studies. During Victoria's first year at Purdue, she volunteered at every event she could and most enjoyed working with and taking care of children. She has a passion for volunteering, meeting new people, and traveling to different countries. She hopes to inspire others to volunteer more and show them how stepping out of the comfort zone and helping out in the community allows one to see the beauty of the world around them.


no textShameetha Jerome is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science from India. She enjoys playing tennis and listening to k-pop. Being a part of Boiler OUT for about a year, Shameetha has really loved the entire experience of meeting new people, learning about their culture and volunteering at different events. She has learned a lot this past year through Boiler OUT and hopes to continue learning and developing as well as giving back to the community through this experience.


noV. K. Chaithanya Manam is a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Vijayawada, India. His hobbies include playing cricket, watching movies and traveling. He joined the Boiler OUT Volunteer Program as a student leader in 2016. His volunteer passions include a conversation with senior citizens at University Place and helping people to meet their basic needs. "I love the Boiler OUT program because it provides me an opportunity to meet many new people with different cultural and educational backgrounds and to serve our community."


no textRachel Craig is a junior studying Hospitality and Tourism Management from Columbus, Indiana. She joined Boiler OUT in Spring 2018 and became a leader in Fall 2018. She enjoys working out, exploring coffee shops, and traveling. I love the Boiler OUT program because it is a great opportunity to meet people from different cultures and to share a passion of volunteering to make an impact on the local community. Her favorite volunteering activities include helping plant trees on Arbor Day with Tree Lafayette and walking dogs for Natalie’s Second Chance.


no textMegha Reddy is a sophomore from Bangalore, India, majoring in Public Heath with a concentration in Bioinformatics. She embodies an ardent love for community service and holds a steady goal to make a difference in someone's life. In order to foster this character, she joined The Boiler OUT Volunteer Program in 2016 and became a leader for the organization in 2017. She believes that amongst her past volunteering events, the time she took out to spend time with the elderly at The Creasy Springs Heath Campus brought her the most priceless satisfaction of social work. She hopes to build character by serving others and is grateful for an organization such as Boiler OUT.


MichelleMichelle Santisteban is a sophomore majoring in general Management from Lima, Peru. She enjoys going to concerts, cooking, and traveling. She joined Boiler OUT Volunteer Program in 2017 and became a mentor in 2018. Her favorite volunteer activities are serving dinner to the homeless at the Lafayette Transitional Housing Center and playing with children in elementary schools. Michelle hopes to improve her leadership skills and knowledge about the American culture, as well as to continue helping out in the community.


PhoebePhoebe Tsui is a junior in Pre-med from Hong Kong, China. She joined the Boiler OUT Volunteer Program in 2016 and became a leader in 2018. Phoebe enjoys reading, traveling and watching dramas. One of her favorite Boiler OUT volunteer events is playing with the kids at the Hanna Community Center. She loves Boiler OUT because volunteering makes her happy and provides life lessons through various kinds of volunteer events. She wants to share her own experiences with others and gather more volunteers to give back to the community.


no textQuynh Nguyen is a first-year Professional Pharmacy major from Hanoi, Vietnam. Quynh likes to read, watch movies, and hang out with friends for bubble tea. She joined the Boiler OUT Volunteer Program in 2015 and became a leader in 2016. “I love the Boiler OUT Volunteer Program because Boiler OUT has given me a chance to share with others my voice, my experience, my stories.”

no textJulia Czarnik is a Junior in the BSPS program from the suburbs of Chicago. This will be her third year in Boiler OUT (second year as a leader). Her hobbies include photography, traveling, gardening and trying new foods. One of her favorite things about Boiler OUT is meeting new people from different cultures. Julie's favorite volunteer activity is interacting with the children from the Hanna Center because they are always energetic and fun to be around.

alisonAlison Grant is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Agricultural Economics. She is from a town called Newmarket, nearby Toronto, Canada. Since moving to West Lafayette in August 2017, she has participated in many Boiler Out activities, including helping out at local 5K races, walking dogs at Natalie’s shelter, and visits to University Place Senior Living Community, to name a few. Alison has a passion for volunteering, as she has a background of leading after-school homework help programs at local Canadian elementary schools. In her free time, she enjoys running full and half marathons, reading about contemporary economics, and listening to podcasts. She is very excited to be a part of the Boiler Out! Mentor team! 

oreannaOreanna Kassotou is a sophomore majoring in Statistics at the College of Science frm Venezuela. Oreanna joined Boiler Out during Fall 2017 and finally became a mentor on Fall 2018. During her time as a Boiler out member, not only did she pursue my love for lending a helping hand but she also came to have fun and to realize the change she made by doing little tasks made an impact for the big community of Greater Lafayette. As a mentor, she would like to continue encouraging others to join Boiler Out and find joy in being part of a big change.
no textQi Dai is a sophomore majoring in Electrical Engineering from Guangzhou, China. Her hobbies include food photography, playing tennis, and traveling around the world. She joined the Boiler OUT Volunteer Program in 2016 and became a leader in 2017. Her volunteer passions include raising awareness of the fight against hunger at Hunger Hike, addressing food insecurity at Food Finders and improving the environment by planting trees for Arbor Day with Tree Lafayette. “I like devoting my time to the Boiler OUT Volunteer Program because it not only gives me opportunities to meet people from different cultures and to help people in need, but it also lets me recognize how I can actually make a contribution to the world around me step by step."

MariMariana Morais is a sophomore in First Year Engineering. She loves dancing, travelling, and hanging out with friends. Mari joined Boiler OUT in 2017 and since then has tried to participate in as many Boiler OUT activities as she could. Being a volunteer is a very gratifying experience for her as she feels useful to the community and because she can see the difference she can make in someone’s life by just donating time to help them. She specially likes to volunteer for causes such as animal welfare and disability.

xinliXin Li Leong is a junior in Marketing from Selangor, Malaysia. She joined Boiler OUT in Spring 2018, and this will be her first year as a leader. She enjoys hiking, camping, reading, and travelling. Xin’s passion for volunteering stems from a deeper belief that every individual can make a difference in this world. She has a special interest in addressing poverty, inequality, and environmental issues. “Boiler OUT connects me with people from all walks of life, and I’ve gained more than I gave from these amazing people.”

RahulRahul Srinivas Sucharitha is a PhD student in Industrial Engineering. He is from the southern part of India, from a city called Chennai. This is his third year as a leader in Boiler OUT. His hobbies include traveling and visiting new destinations, learning new languages and cultures, and also sketching. One of his favorite things about Boiler OUT is meeting people from different countries and cultures. One of his favorite volunteer activities is dog walking and helping out in at Food Finders.
