Purdue police provide exit strategies from University Street Parking Garage during construction

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — With summer construction underway on the West Lafayette campus, a number of projects will affect travel and parking in the area.

Access to the University Street Parking Garage will be maintained all summer, but construction projects will limit the available routes to and from the garage.

“Between 4:30-5:30 p.m., a lot of people are trying to exit campus,” said Purdue University Police Chief John Cox, “and for those parking in the University Street Parking Garage, they have a few navigation options while construction is heavy in the area this summer.”

The following exit strategies are offered to those parking in the University Street Parking Garage:

• From Waldron Street, take Third Street westbound to Martin Jischke Drive. Turn south and proceed to State Street or U.S. 231.

• Take Second Street westbound, turn south on Russell Street and proceed to State Street or continue to the Harrison Street roundabout to U.S. 231.

• From Second Street, take University Street southbound to State Street.

“Above all, we want the campus community to be safe traveling to and from their destinations and exercise patience as their normal routes may be delayed or unavailable,” Cox said.

The interactive construction map located off the main campus map on the Purdue homepage displays current impacts and is updated on a weekly basis. Construction updates will continue to be posted on the Physical Facilities construction and travel notices webpage and State Street Redevelopment Project website
