Purdue Student Concert Committee announces two new shows

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. —  The Purdue Student Concert Committee, with support from the Purdue University Student Fee Advisory Board, announced two upcoming shows on Monday.

The Chicago-based band Twin Peaks will perform at the Anvil, 320 North St., West Lafayette, on February 15 at 7 p.m. Hip-hop artist Ty Dolla $ign will perform at Purdue University’s Elliott Hall of Music on February 17 at 7:30 p.m

In 2017, Twin Peaks performed at Purdue University with Cage the Elephant.

“The Purdue Student Concert Committee is super excited to bring back a fan favorite from 2017 and present them in a club setting,” said Rachel Silber, president of the committee.

Born of Chicago's league-leading DIY scene and with several of them remaining friends since elementary school, Cadien Lake James, Clay Frankel, Connor Brodner, Jack Dolan, and most recent addition Colin Croom, share an enthusiasm, authenticity and passion their audiences have found contagious. In the three years since dropping out of college to support their debut album ‘Sunken,’ the band has covered a lot of ground. They were anointed “Best New Band” by NME and countless other blogs, and they have performed for (and partied with) more than hospitable masses at festivals in the states and Europe, including Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, Reading and Leeds, and Roskilde. In between all this action, the group set up camp in the summer of 2015 amidst the solitude of a murky lake in Western Massachusetts, where they could experiment and record on their own terms in the warm living room of a good friend's house.

Each semester through on-line survey and in-person tabling on campus, the Student Concert Committee is continually asked to produce events in standing-room, general admission settings.  With this student request in mind, SCC is proud to introduce the Anvil to all fans of live music and entertainment on campus.  Located at the corner of North and Grant Street across the street from the Purdue Memorial Union and Grant Street Parking Garage, the Anvil serves as a co-working space for Purdue University students and entrepreneurs seeking to take their ideas further.  Formerly home to the space occupied by the University Church, SCC is excited to take an entrepreneurial approach to concert promotion and turn the area into Purdue’s newest venue space.
