WeConnect conference leads off Women Lead week at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A Sept. 24-25 conference co-sponsored by the Purdue University College of Science and the Krannert School of Management will serve as the opening event for Krannert’s Women Lead Week.

WeConnect will bring together female business leaders, technologists, scientists and thinkers to share insights and discuss strategies for leading and engaging the future workforce. This interactive and thought-provoking event will allow attendees the opportunity to refine their leadership toolkits to prepare for the future.

This year’s conference takes “Setting our Sights on Success” as its theme and begins on Sept. 24 with a networking session, dinner and welcoming keynote. The registration deadline is Sept. 13 and can be completed at the conference website.

Events the on Sept. 25 include:

* “Leveraging Generations and Gender to Fuel Workplace Impact,” an interactive workshop led by Joan Kuhl, founder and president of Why Millennials Matter

* “Future of Leadership,” a lunch keynote by Rukeyser Thompson of Procter & Gamble

* A panel discussion of Purdue alumnae sharing how they are moving their companies into the future “What Business Can Learn from Improv,” a lecture by ComedySportz.

The cost of the conference is $65 per person, or $45 for graduates of the last decade (2007-2017), including dinner on Sunday, breakfast and lunch on Monday, and admission to every session. Price does not include hotel.

Those interested in extending their stay can attend the Cummings-Perrucci Lecture on "Reimagining Equality" by Anita Hill, an attorney and professor of social policy, law and women's studies. The event begins at 6 p.m. on Sept. 25 and is open to the public as space permits.

Women Lead Week, an initiative of the Jane Brock-Wilson Women in Management Center, will continue with additional events throughout the week, including:

“Hello, My Name Is…”, an open-stage storytelling presentation on Sept. 26 hosted by MatchBOX Coworking Studio

GenderSpeak, a workshop on Sept. 27 led by Tammy Hughes of the Heim Group 

Krannert Leadership Speakers Series on Sept. 28 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis

Krannert Executive Forum on Sept. 29 with Cheryl Grace, senior vice president at Nielsen
