WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The fourth annual Purdue Day of Giving will unite students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, retirees and friends “All Together” to grant opportunities on Wednesday, April 26, in a 24-hour online, social media-driven fundraising effort to support the university and its programs.

“As this year’s ‘All Together’ theme indicates, Purdue Day of Giving brings the entire Purdue family together to keep a Purdue education affordable and within the reach of more students,” says Amy Noah, vice president for development. “Thanks to our supporters’ loyalty and generosity, successful fundraising events like Purdue Day of Giving further university priorities, including enabling us to extend our latest tuition freeze through the 2018-19 academic year — the sixth straight year of flat tuition after 36 years of increases.”

Last year, Purdue’s third annual Day of Giving raised a record $18.3 million from 12,872 donations in 24 hours. It was the second consecutive year Purdue earned the record for most dollars raised for higher education through a single-day campaign. That event also set Purdue records for number of donations received, number of gifts from international donors and number of countries represented. Another highlight was an increase in student involvement.

Increased participation is key to surpassing last year’s success. More than 33 hourly challenges will keep Purdue’s 62 participating academic and non-academic programs — up from 59 in 2016 — competing for cash prizes to add to the impact of donations. Challenges include largest single donation, most parent donors, most alumni donors of the last decade, donation from person living farthest from campus and random Purdue Day of Giving selfie.

A competition specifically for student organizations will engage more than 100 participating organizations in a friendly rivalry and the chance for cash prizes.

Those who give to Purdue during the Day of Giving can direct their gifts where they choose by going online to DayofGiving.purdue.edu or by calling toll-free at 800-319-2199. Gifts to Purdue Day of Giving count toward “Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University.”
