Purdue’s 2016 highlights captured on video

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The major happenings at Purdue University during 2016 are highlighted in the Purdue Alumni Association’s 62nd edition of the Year in Review video, formerly the Newsreel.

Titled “Breaking Records,” the 12-minute program, sponsored by the Purdue Alumni Association, can be viewed at purduealumni.org/year and is available from Purdue’s John W. Hicks Undergraduate Library. The video is shown to Purdue alumni networks around the world.

Highlights in the 2016 Year in Review include Purdue’s record enrollment; a fifth year of freezing tuition; a record-setting freshman class; Boiler Gold Rush; a record graduation rate; Purdue’s ranking as fourth best among public institutions; alumni awards and events; anniversaries for Purdue Pete and the Boilermaker Special; Homecoming; 1869 Tap Room; announced location for Purdue Polytechnic High School; Back a Boiler financial aid program; Day of Giving record; record-setting Grand Prix; Honors College and Residences building; Purdue Northwest building dedication; Al Wright 100th birthday celebration; Ag Fish Fry; Zucrow Labs expansion; multiple groundbreakings and partnerships; two Black Cultural Center singing groups; Purdue Bands; Glee Club; Purdue Christmas Show; Indiana bicentennial torch relay through campus; new athletic director and football head coach; men's and women's basketball highlights; Olympic highlights, including the first gold medal for a Purdue female graduate; volleyball, diving, golf and track highlights; and remarks from Ralph Amos, president and CEO of the Purdue Alumni Association. 

The 2016 Year in Review was produced by the Office of Marketing and Media and directed by Ray Cubberley, senior broadcast producer in marketing and media, and is narrated by Tim Newton, director of external relations for Purdue's Krannert School of Management.
