• Appointments and promotions:
- The Brian Lamb School of Communication's Purdue Institute for Civic Communication appointed Josh Scacco, an assistant professor of media theory and politics, as a PICC faculty fellow. Through this fall 2015 fellowship, Scacco will design a new class that will utilize the C-SPAN Video Archives to study modern campaigns and elections in the United States. "Modern Campaigns and Elections in the United States" will be cross-listed with the Department of Political Science and offered in spring 2016. Scacco's class will examine the mechanics and purposes of federal and statewide election campaigns, including the legal and party infrastructures of elections, the campaign communication of candidates seeking elected office, media coverage of election events and citizen influence on campaigns and election outcomes. Scacco, who also has a courtesy faculty appointment in the Department of Political Science, studies the communicative role elites and organizations play in American politics. His work has appeared in the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, New Media & Society, and the International Journal of Press/Politics.
