Purdue College of Technology alumni to receive awards

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Ten graduates of Purdue University's College of Technology will be recognized during 2014 alumni award events on Friday, Feb. 28.
The awards are presented to alumni who have harnessed the power of their Purdue degrees to positively impact their chosen professions.
"These alumni have changed how today's technology will improve the world tomorrow," said Vanessa Buntin, College of Technology manager of special events and alumni relations.
Distinguished Technology Alumni Award recipients James Paulsen, Highland Park, Ill., and Donald Scifres, Indianapolis, will receive their awards at a dinner Friday night at the Ross-Ade Pavilion.
Paulsen retired from the U.S. Navy in 2011 after a 25-year career and is now chief flight instructor for Lafayette Aviation at Purdue University's airport. He earned his bachelor's degree in aviation technology from Purdue in 1983.
Scifres is managing partner at Dirra Ventures and VisionTech Angels and general partner with StepStone Business Partners and VisionTech Partners. He focuses on angel and venture capital investments in technology and life sciences firms. He earned his bachelor's degree in industrial supervision from Purdue in 1980.

The college will also present several other alumni awards at a breakfast Friday morning at the Purdue Memorial Union.
Outstanding Technology Alumni recipients include: Ron Baysinger, Palmyra, Pa.; Tamara Fisher, Columbus, Ind.; Kevin Houk and Tom Kerker, both of Indianapolis; and Brandon Oelling, Chicago. Early Career Award recipients include: Kevin Hendress, Wilton, Iowa; James Milburn, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; and Keri Wright, Lakeland, Tenn.
