January 21, 2014

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's Dr. Martin Luther King Commemorative lecture by Julian Bond scheduled for Tuesday (Jan. 21) has been canceled due to inclement weather on the East Coast.

Renee Thomas, director of Purdue's Black Cultural Center and co-chair of the Martin Luther King Planning Committee, said the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity candlelight memorial walk in memory of Dr. King will still take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Black Cultural Center and conclude at Loeb Theatre; a hot chocolate social will follow. She said the committee plans to reschedule Bond's appearance at Purdue.
