Purdue Research Park building to host joint police, fire training exercise

July 14, 2014

A currently vacant building in the Purdue Research Park will serve as a location for a joint training exercise this week for firefighters and police officers with Purdue and the City of West Lafayette.

Today, Tuesday and Wednesday (July 14-16), different shifts from the four departments will take part in exercises similar to those that took place in the Engineering Administration Building on the West Lafayette campus a couple of weeks ago. The building that is being used is the former Business Technology Center building, also known as the flex lab. The building is located on the corner of Kent Avenue and Cumberland streets, and people near the building may hear and see the exercises while they are being conducted.

During the drills, sandwich boards and electronic signs will indicate that a training exercise is in progress. The exercises will take place in the morning and evenings today and Wednesday, and in the morning only on Tuesday.

Anyone with questions about the exercises should contact Chief Jason Dombkowski of the West Lafayette Police Department at 765-775-5200 or Chief Tim Heath of the West Lafayette Fire Department at 765-775-5175.
