Purdue to offer new housing option for academic guests

June 5, 2014

Purdue will begin offering a new on-campus housing option for academic guests this summer through a joint venture between the Office of the Provost, Housing and Food Services and the Purdue Research Foundation.

The 125 Waldron St. apartments will be available exclusively to visiting scholars or campus guests invited by academic departments at Purdue beginning in August 2014.

Suresh Garimella, chief global affairs officer, piloted the project intended to enhance the residential experience of those visiting Purdue from all over the world.

"As a faculty member myself, I have wished so often for a furnished, high-quality, extended-stay housing option for overseas visitors to our research group," Garimella says. "I am very pleased with the option now available, which will not only offer a convenient option for our guests, but likely also encourage our colleagues to engage in deeper collaborative opportunities with researchers overseas. I am confident this will be an important facilitator for our global partnerships."

The Waldron apartments are located at the intersection of Waldron and Second streets in the center of Purdue's campus. They sit one block from academic buildings and two blocks from State Street, well within walking distance of Chauncey Village and Wabash Landing.

The one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments are available for guests of academic departments at a rate of $75 per night. There is a five-night minimum stay and a deposit will be required with reservation.

Department reservations will begin July 16 with an occupancy date targeted at Aug. 1.

In addition to the Waldron apartments, Purdue will continue to offer guest housing at Purdue Village. For a complete list of features and amenities for either location, contact LeAnn Weir from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 49-63579 or Waldron125@purdue.edu.
