Women in Engineering plan summer camps
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Registration is open for two Purdue University Women in Engineering Program summer camps for middle and high school students.
The June 13-17 Engineering FYI Camp: For Your Imagination is a residential camp focused on students currently in seventh and eighth grades.
The campers will work with Purdue women engineering students on hands-on activities, such as designing materials for disaster relief efforts. Campers also will tour Purdue engineering laboratories and meet faculty and graduate students conducting cutting-edge research.
Cost for the camp is $400, which covers tuition, room and board, materials and supplies.
Two sessions of the Exciting Discoveries for Girls in Engineering camp for students who are currently high school freshmen or sophomores are planned. They are July 24-29 and July 31-Aug. 5.
EDGE is designed to better acquaint participants with opportunities in engineering and show them how their interests and talents can be utilized to make a difference in the world. These campers will work with Purdue women engineering students, complete hands-on projects and tour an industrial facility. The cost is $450, which covers tuition, room and board, materials and supplies.
A limited number of need-based scholarships are available for both the FYI and EDGE camps.
