Re: FY23 rates for Administrative Operations services

The Administrative Operations organization is committed to safely and reliably supporting the campus community through a number of service offerings. Rates are reviewed by Administrative Operations annually to maintain proper fiscal standards and fund balances. New rates, addendums or revisions are reviewed and approved by the CFO’s University Income Producing Committee. Rate changes outlined below will take effect July 1, 2022.

Confidential Materials Disposal

Good news! The Physical Facilities Grounds department operates the confidential materials disposal program, and the most recent rate charged is $0.16 per pound. The service will remain available, but the fee is being discontinued. Questions may be directed to Phil Richey, grounds supervisor, at 765-494-3089.

Refuse and Recycling

The Grounds department provides indoor and outdoor refuse and recycling collection at no cost to academic facilities. Internal rates apply to auxiliary departments including Athletics and Student Life. Separate external rates are maintained for Purdue Research Foundation and similar customers. New rates are as follows. Questions may be directed to Phil Richey, grounds supervisor, at 765-494-3089.

A fee is charged for handling each package, and the current fee varies based on the private parcel provider. A single rate of $3.00 per package will be assessed moving forward for all providers. Questions may be directed to Mark Schock, materials management and distribution manager, at 765-494-7099.

Shop Rates

Facilities Operations and Environmental Health and Public Safety provide a variety of services to help ensure the safe operation, maintenance and development of campus. Facilities Operations services include Building Services, Energy and Utilities, Grounds, and Operations and Maintenance. Environmental Health and Public Safety services include Fire, Police, Radiological and Environmental Management, and similar services. Shop rates are used to assign labor costs for work performed by hourly employees for departmental and campus customers. The FY23 rates reflect the current costs associated with each trade and service area, such as training and wage adjustments, in order for Purdue to recruit, hire and retain hourly employees. The shop rates do not include administrative, equipment, support services or other overhead costs. Weighted average shop rates for each department are listed below, and the full list of shop rates is available online. Questions or concerns may be directed to Kelli Stacey, facilities operations senior administrative assistant, at 765-496-0578.
