Accommodating Students with Disabilities

This session focuses on ensuring all students at Purdue have equal access to educational programs and are supported in a learning environment free from disability-related barriers. This session is designed to provide participants with a better understanding of the ADA and the student accommodation process, faculty and staff responsibilities, effective approaches for supporting students with disabilities, and campus resources available through the Disability Resource Center (DRC). and Purdue Testing Services.

Through this training, you will learn how to:

  • Recognize effective approaches and campus resources that support equal access to learning in both classroom and online environments.
  • Identify common types of disabilities and understand how they may affect learning and engagement in academic settings.
  • Describe the legal foundations and institutional responsibilities that shape disability access and accommodation practices at Purdue University.
  • Understand the role of the Disability Resource Center (DRC) and the procedures involved in reviewing and implementing student accommodations.
