Purdue trustees approve 2023 health plans

The Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday (Aug. 5) approved 2023 health plans, which will have no employee premium increase for the fourth straight year. Additionally, employees on the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest campuses enrolled in a Purdue medical plan will receive a health care appreciation payment later this year equal to two months of the average employee premium.

Photo gallery: Summer commencement ceremonies celebrate students’ next giant leaps

Purdue University celebrated almost 1,700 students’ academic accomplishments during two summer commencement ceremonies on Saturday (Aug. 6). Eligible to participate in the ceremonies were 1,699 students – 510 undergraduate, 756 master’s, 407 Ph.D. and 26 professional program candidates.

Exciting discoveries from Mars will be brought to you by the letter L

The first letter ever etched on the Martian surface is the letter L. Far from being an act of interplanetary graffiti, though, it’s there for scientific purposes. Roger Wiens, professor of earth, atmospheric, and planetary sciences, led the team that built SuperCam, a tool on the Mars rover Perseverance that used its laser to etch the L on the surface to learn more about Mars’ lost magnetic field.

Summer Session sets record, shows demand for Purdue education

More students than ever are graduating early, participating in study abroad and earning extra credentials through enrollment in Summer Session classes at Purdue. Purdue’s total enrollment of graduate, professional and undergraduate students across all Summer Session programs this year is more than 22,000, which is an increase of almost 15% from Summer Session 2021.
