Paving the way for generations of Black Boilermaker excellence

Just one generation removed from slavery, Purdue's first Black graduate, David Robert Lewis, paved the way for abundant Black excellence at Purdue, which lives on with a scholarship in his name. Computer engineering major Eric Richardson (pictured) is one of the inaugural recipients of the scholarship.
