Social services organizations are seeing an increased need for volunteer assistance at this time, including in Greater Lafayette. Volunteering brings people together, fosters collaboration and shares common goals, while contributing to both individual and collective well-being, which supports one of the pillars of Purdue’s Healthy Boiler Program.

Using sunlight to save satellites from a fate of ‘space junk’

No satellite stays the same once launched into space. How much it changes can go unnoticed – until something bad happens. Carolin Frueh, assistant professor in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, is among only a handful of researchers who have persisted in using a complex technique that can diagnose a problem from thousands of miles away based on how the satellite reflects sunlight.

Wearable patch may help treat skin cancer

Less invasive topical chemotherapies have emerged as an alternative to conventional therapies for treating melanoma, but their widespread use has been hindered by both the painful size of the microneedles and the rapidly dissolving behavior of polymers used in the treatments. Now, Purdue innovators have created a novel wearable patch to help address the issues and provide an improved treatment.
