Open enrollment provides an annual opportunity for faculty and staff to review benefit offerings and make choices for the upcoming year. Open enrollment on the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest campuses will begin Oct. 29 and end at 6 p.m. ET Nov. 12.

The arrival of fall means flu season is just around the corner, and now is the best time to get an annual vaccination to safeguard yourself and those around you. “Getting the flu shot protects you and your family from getting sick. It also protects your community by reducing the chance the virus can spread,” said Libby Richards, an associate professor of nursing who specializes in public health at the School of Nursing. Faculty and staff have many on-campus options for getting their flu shots.

Hundreds of Purdue students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to learn the lifesaving skill of hands-only CPR on Oct. 28. The American Heart Association and the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation are teaming up to train the public in Hands-Only CPR during a mobile tour that will return to Purdue for a third visit. for a training session.

As both air and road travel get more automated features and shift toward highly autonomous systems, people will need more help learning how to use them. A multi-institute team of researchers has recently been formed to develop algorithms that would indicate a human’s skill level and adapt it. In addition, the study will look at human trust in automated features and how that affects interaction.
