Save the date: Benefits open enrollment for 2020
medical plans to begin Oct. 29

Open enrollment provides an annual opportunity for faculty and staff to review benefit offerings and make choices for the upcoming year. Open enrollment on the West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Northwest campuses will begin Oct. 29 and end at 6 p.m. ET Nov. 12.

Opioid addiction, vaping, politically correct medicine a few of the topics Dr. Sally Satel will discuss at Purdue

The numbers of people falling ill and dying from opioids is tragic, but where does the blame fall – the failure of grief counseling or breakdowns in public policy? Are public policy solutions healing or harming as the nation copes? And, what did we learn from opioids that we can apply to vaping? Addiction — its nature and myths — as well as politically correct medicine will be some of the many health topics that author and psychiatrist Dr. Sally Satel will address on Oct. 29 at Purdue.

Haley Oliver

Land-grant mission award winner helping to shape field of food science

Haley Oliver has spent years working toward developing the first food technology program in Afghanistan. The project is one of the many reasons Oliver, an associate professor of food science at Purdue, will receive the 2019 Corinne Alexander Spirit of the Land-Grant Mission Award at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in Pfendler Hall, Deans Auditorium (Room 241).
