Giant Leaps Series speaker to focus on agricultural trends within globalization

Today's (Sept. 25) Giant Leaps Series event will feature Yoshimasa Hayashi speaking on "Agricultural Trends Within Globalization." A member of the Liberal Democratic Party, Hayashi has served in Japan’s House of Councillors since 1995. Appointed to both the Committee on Financial Affairs and the Commission on the Constitution, he recently served as minister of education, culture, sports, science and technology.

The sesquicentennial celebration marks a time for Purdue to renew its commitment to growth, discovery and innovation. What giant leaps will the next 150 years bring as Purdue continues its drive to meet the world's future challenges? In this monthly Purdue Today series, Purdue's deans will share their thoughts on the future of their college over the next 150 years. The series continues with Willie Reed, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

‘What IF Breakthrough Technologies Could Make Us Smarter?’

A leading neuroscientist will discuss recent advances in genome editing technologies, addressing the question of “What IF Breakthrough Technologies Could Make Us Smarter?” during an Oct. 15 Ideas Festival event at Purdue. Guoping Feng's presentation, "Live Long and Prosper: The Promise of Science (Fiction) and Medicine," is sponsored by the College of Pharmacy.

Flu shots available after Oct. 1 via designated locations, flu shot events

Employees will have access to free flu vaccines again this year at multiple locations. The Center for Healthy Living, Purdue Pharmacy and the Nursing Center for Family Health -- all on the West Lafayette campus -- will be providing flu shots after Oct. 1 for benefits-eligible employees and spouses and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan. Flu shot events also will be set up at the Purdue Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest campuses.
