President Mitch Daniels participated in a Harley-Davidson motorcycle ride through campus on Monday (Sept. 16) to test drive the new all-electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycle. After the ride, students had the chance to interact with LiveWire through the Jumpstart rider experience and hear from the Harley-Davidson leadership and recruitment team about the brand’s engineering and electric vehicle strategy and what it’s like to be an engineer at the company.

‘What IF We Could Feed
the World Without
Harming the Planet?’

How does the world feed its growing population in a way that does not contribute to climate change? How much should we enjoy what we eat at the cost of the planet’s health? The Ingestive Behavior Research Center at Purdue is sponsoring an "Ethics of Eating" conference addressing “What IF We Could Feed the World Without Harming the Planet?” The Ideas Festival event is free and open to the public, but online registration is required.

Sticker makes nanoscale light manipulation easier to manufacture

Human pathogens, such as HIV and viruses causing respiratory tract infection, have molecular fingerprints that are difficult to distinguish. To better detect these pathogens, sensors in diagnostic tools need to manipulate light on a nanoscale. But there isn’t a good way to manufacture these light manipulation devices without damaging the sensors. Purdue University engineers have a solution: Stickers.
