APSAC is now accepting applications for its Fall 2019 individual professional development grants. Examples of funded grant applications include but are not limited to professional education or certification; attendance at lectures, conferences and seminars; or tuition assistance for academic classes. Applications are due Oct. 1.

Beth Ford has plenty of colleagues at Purdue when it comes to envisioning and making something new. Her leadership of Land O’Lakes Inc. is in part about new steps in sustainability and new and varied uses for artificial intelligence. On Tuesday (Sept. 17), "A Conversation with Beth Ford," led by Jayson Lusk, distinguished professor and head in Agricultural Economics, will depict how new tools and new situations become new opportunities. The event is part of Purdue’s Giant Leaps Series. Don’t Miss It!

Purdue 2050: Conference on the Future

How to create a digital, healthy and sustainable local community as a living laboratory? The Purdue 2050: Conference on the Future on Sept. 26-27 will address this challenge, and conferees will experience the technology of tomorrow as a part of the University's Ideas Festival. Discovery Park is organizing an "uncommon conference" where participants will have an immersive experience in futuristic technology that should appear in 2030-50.

Ever wonder why your commute or vacation route has a lane closed down for days or even months at a time? It could be because a construction project wrapped up before the concrete was ready to take on heavy truck traffic, causing the pavement to fail too soon and need repairs more frequently throughout the year. Indiana is doing something about it: Asking researchers to find out how long it takes for concrete to mature on a highway.
