Purdue Jazz Festival to hold free showcase concert

Celebrating its 20th year, the Purdue Jazz Festival will offer a special Community Jazz Showcase Concert at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Long Center, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette. The concert will feature the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors and have performances by the Harrison, Jefferson, McCutcheon and West Lafayette high school jazz bands with Chicago trumpeter Bob Lark.

The showcase is co-sponsored by Purdue Bands & Orchestras and the Journal and Courier. Admission is free, but tickets are required. They can be picked up at the Journal and Courier, 217 N. Sixth St., Lafayette, and a limited number are available in Room 137, Elliott Hall of Music.

Dave Holland Quintet to headline Purdue Jazz Festival

Grammy Award-winning bassist and bandleader Dave Holland will headline the 20th annual Purdue Jazz Festival with his celebrated quintet of jazz all-stars, featuring vibraphonist Steve Nelson, tenor saxophonist Chris Potter, trombonist Robin Eubanks, and drummer Nate Smith. More
