Gebisa Ejeta honored with World Food Prize

President France A. Córdova greets Gebisa Ejeta, Distinguished Professor of Agronomy, and his wife, Senait, before the World Food Prize ceremony on Thursday at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Ejeta received the World Food Prize for his work in developing sorghum varieties resistant to drought and Striga, a parasitic weed common on the African continent. Because of Ejeta's efforts, sorghum yields are significantly higher in many African nations.

'CBS Sunday Morning' to explore Amelia Earhart, Purdue history

CBS correspondent Kimberly Dozier interviews Robin Jensen, assistant professor of communication, regarding her research about Amelia Earhart for a segment scheduled to air 9 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 18) on "CBS Sunday Morning." Interviews also were conducted with Sammie Morris, associate professor of library science and university archivist, who manages the George Palmer Putnam Collection of Amelia Earhart Papers; and John Norberg, development communications manager and author of "Wings of Their Dreams: Purdue in Flight." Footage also was shot in the HSSE Library, Libraries Archives and Special Collections and at the Purdue airport.

Big Ten Tournament all-session tickets on sale Monday

All-session tickets for the 2010 Big Ten men's and women's basketball tournaments will go on sale on Monday at 10 a.m. ET, and can be purchased through the Purdue Athletic Ticket Office. More

A new courtyard outside the John W. Hicks Undergraduate Library at Purdue will be dedicated Saturday (Oct. 17). The courtyard, called A Place in the Sun, is a gift of the Purdue Class of 1980. The library and courtyard are located between Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center. More

Purdue to host Canadian chamber ensemble Afiara String Quartet

The award-winning Canadian chamber ensemble Afiara String Quartet will present a program featuring quintessential works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. More
