Boilermaker fans heading to Saturday's (Oct. 17) football game against Ohio State will want to be in their seats early and keep their heads up.

Pregame activities leading up to the noon kickoff at Ross-Ade Stadium will include a flyover of a KC-135R Stratotanker by the 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom Air Reserve Base. The flyover, made possible by the Purdue's Air Force ROTC detachment, features the Air Force's first jet-powered aerial refueling tanker.

The Stratotanker, with a wingspan of 130 feet, is one of just six military aircraft with more than 50 years of continuous service. In addition to its aerial refueling duties, modified KC-135s also serve as flying command posts and transport, electronic reconnaissance and photo mapping craft.

Also for this game, Purdue is encouraging fans to wear gold and support the United Way.

To jump-start the campaign, Follett's Purdue Bookstores and Purdue Pride are selling specially designed "Gold Strike" T-shirts for $10. Follett's will donate $2 from each shirt sale to the United Way, while Purdue's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will donate $1 for each shirt sold at the Purdue Pride team store. The shirts are available from Purdue Pride at Ross-Ade Stadium and online at https://www.purduesports.com
