Art education majors, alumni to exhibit works

Works by current and past students in art education are going on display in "Envision/Revisit" in the Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries in Pao Hall. The two-week run also will feature a hands-on printmaking workshop and an artist's talk.

The exhibition will run Oct. 19-30, and gallery hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. A reception is set for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 23. The events are organized by the art education program in the Art and Design Division of the  Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

On the "Envision" side in the West Gallery, visitors can see artwork by current art education students belonging to the group Purdue Student National Art Education Association.

The "Revisit" side in the East Gallery features the work of 25 art education alumni, representing four decades of graduates who earned bachelor's, master's and PhD degrees in art education from Purdue.

Two alumni artists, Michal Lile and Justin Vining, have recently had solo exhibitions in the Lala Gallery in downtown Lafayette. Vining's work is being shown in Lafayette City Hall.

Two events presented by alumni are planned. Buffy Rogers will conduct a hands-on printmaking workshop "Two-Toned Relief Print" from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 24 in Pao Hall.

Advance registration and a small materials fee are required to participate. To register for the printmaking workshop or for more information, contact Sue Uhlig, organizer of "Envision/Revisit" and continuing lecturer in Art and Design, at 49-43973 or uhlig@purdue.edu.

Lile will present the lecture "Artmaking and Teaching: A Symbiosis" at 7:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in Room 1197, Pao Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.
