Outreach and Engagement

June 11, 2019

Purdue Life Sciences participated in Nano Days (April 3-5) hosted by the Birck Nanotechnology Center. Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience joined forces with the Purdue Institute of Drug Discovery and the Purdue Institute of Inflammation, Immunology and Infectious Disease in developing and delivering multidisciplinary activities for student visitors. Through hands-on activities, students learned how viruses are structure, how some viruses may cause neurological disorders and how antiviral drugs can help treat viral infections. Visitors modified the 3D structure of a virus by using a molecular visualization system and created virus structures using molecular models.

The Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience teamed up with the Purdue University Neuroscience Society (PUNS) and the Purdue Association for Magnetic Resonance (PAMR) during the 2019 Spring Fest. A sheep brain dissection and a brain-controlled model car demonstration activities were part of the two-day event.
