3. Determine Audience

Decide which audience(s) should be targeted in your identified gap(s). For example:

  • K-12 teachers or students
  • Graduate or undergraduate students
  • Postdoctoral fellows
  • Faculty
  • General public or project stakeholders
  • Underrepresented minorities

This figure shows how a gap provides rationale for unique audiences and interventions. You do not have to include all potential audiences. Consider Step 2 Broader Impact Identity and funding agency emphasis to define your focus.
