Project Management Online Courses
Purdue University developed its online Project Management Essentials and Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam Preparation courses as a complementary series to help students effectively plan, orchestrate and control complex projects in their organizations and, if they choose, pursue PMP certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Project Management Essentials is the first step for professionals who seek fundamental knowledge and skills to immediately apply to their projects and advance their careers. It also helps students earn the educational hours required by PMI.
Many of our students follow up Project Management Essentials with PMP Exam Preparation, the second course in our online series. This course is an in-depth review designed for experienced project managers who want to gain a firm understanding of PMP exam content, identify areas of opportunity for strengthening their grasp of PM principles, and develop a comprehensive study plan.
Employers worldwide consider PMP certification the industry standard for project managers. As a result, the knowledge, skills and experience required for PMP certification are transferable across industries and continents.

Download BrochurePurdue’s project management instructors and online course development specialists teamed up to create world-class proprietary content and a full complement of instructional materials for our series. We employ quality-assurance measures to ensure that these learning tools are engaging and effective. Our Essentials course materials and activities align closely with A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide), but are not designed for rote learning. Instead, they incorporate activities that help students retain project management knowledge and immediately apply it in the workplace. Through four assignments, they learn how to gain buy-in, manage risk, and establish effective stakeholder communication, among many other valuable skills.
Course content is field-tested by our students, providing our instructors with tangible feedback that they use to frequently update the curriculum and ensure that the tools, techniques and processes they teach in this course are consistent with the evolving standards of today’s organizations.
PMP Exam Preparation is a live, virtual course based on the PMBOK® Guide. Enrollment includes 90-day access to all of the course material, which is 100% aligned to the Project Management Institute’s PMP® Exam Prep content.
