Get to know First Lady Kei Hui and learn more about her mission and goals as the First Lady.

About the First Lady

What do you strive to accomplish during your time as First Lady?

I want to engage in initiatives that support and benefit all Boilermakers. For example, community child care options and opportunities our children have in the before/after-school programs.  As a medical doctor, I look forward to collaborating with local hospitals, doctor’s offices and the Department of Health to promote preventive care and address the community health needs.

What causes are especially important to you?

I am passionate about children’s well-being and helping young families thrive. Professionally, I am enthusiastic about medical education and patient safety/quality improvement in health care. I will continue my medical practice locally.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

I am not a professional photographer, but I love taking scenic pictures anytime, anywhere. I plan to compile a photo album of seasonal, dawn-to-sunset views of our beautiful campus and neighborhood.

What motivates you?

I am motivated by my faith and my love for family and friends.  I am also driven by my compassion to help and heal in my medical profession.

Family and Community

I am truly humbled to have this amazing opportunity to work with Purdue students, staff, faculty and alumni. The opportunities to connect and collaborate at the university and community level excite me. The collective excellence at Purdue is changing the world. I am honored to serve pro bono as part of the president’s office.

Our children adapted to the new environment very quickly. We are all finding our routines around the new space and roles. The kids are specifically looking forward to interactions with children of their own age when assisting with special events such as the Easter egg hunt.

We look forward to working with the Westwood and the president’s office staff to serve our university.  Through the events we host, we hope to demonstrate the deeply felt appreciation for our colleagues and neighbors, and explore enhanced collaborations.  We feel excited to raise our children at Westwood and recognize the great responsibility bestowed upon us in taking care of the university’s property. We plan to create photo albums capturing the beautiful memories and sceneries Westwood affords us.

What would you like us to know about President Chiang that we may not know?

1. He is a family man. He enjoys, more than anything else, spending time with our children. He knows all the board games at home and most children’s movies. He helps our children with their homework as much as he can. 2. Before our move, he drove two and a half hours for his daily commute and always tried to get home for dinner with us and to spend quality time with family. 3. He loves taking our children to the theater to watch movies, but he often falls asleep and snores very loudly.  So, if you hear snoring in the theater, it might be him!
