All faculty, staff and students must register their personal EMPVs with Purdue Parking Operations if they wish to operate them on the West Lafayette campus. Manual bicycles are encouraged to be registered.

How to Register Your Device

Download the “529 Garage” mobile app on your phone and create an account.

Bring a photo of the device with the make, model and serial number included and your PUID to the Purdue Parking Operations office located in Stewart Center, room G54 to request a registration Shield sticker.

There is no cost to register.

Registration with Parking Operations is valid for two years. When your current registration expires, you must renew it and receive and apply a new sticker on your device.

Re-registration is required before the expiration date if the device is sold or transferred to a new owner or the registration sticker falls off or becomes illegible.

  • Knowing the number of personally-owned devices, plus shared devices, gives Purdue a holistic view of EMPV use and what resources may be needed.
  • Owners and operators can receive direct communications about safety, changes to campus regulations and related information.
  • Owners of registered Shield sticker devices can receive free lock-cutting services from Parking Operations if they lose their key or need assistance. Devices that do not have the 529 Shield sticker will have a $15.00 fee to cut their device lock.
  • A record of ownership is in place for Parking Operations or the Purdue University Police Department if the device is lost or stolen.
  • Registration promotes safe behaviors and compliance with Purdue’s Traffic and Parking Regulations.

Visitors that plan to bring their electric micromobility vehicles on campus should use a visitor tag.  To request a visitor tag, please reach out to Parking Operations by phone at 765-494-9497.
