Division of Financial Aid to help students file their FAFSA
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - All current and newly admitted Purdue University students planning on attending Purdue in the fall of 2012 must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 to receive priority consideration for federal, state and university-controlled financial aid.
"Our office has been busy providing financial aid filing information to students and their families through email, community programs and via our financial aid website," said David Reseigh, assistant director of outreach at Purdue's Division of Financial Aid. "Students may still file after March 1, but the amount and types of aid available could be limited by waiting."
Students and their families also can get free FAFSA filing help from financial aid experts at College Goal Sunday on Feb 12, starting at 2 p.m. local time. Families in the Lafayette area can attend at Ivy Tech Community College, Ivy Hall, 3101 S. Creasy Lane. A complete list of the 30 participating sites around the state can be found at https://www.collegegoalsunday.org
"Students under age 24 should attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s) and bring their parents' 2011 income, asset and benefits information," Reseigh said. "Students who worked last year should also bring their own earnings information."
Students can print a helpful worksheet used in filing the FAFSA at https://www.fafsa.gov
