Also in the meeting, Purdue Global trustees approved the appointment of a committee to evaluate current practices and recommend actions necessary to comply with the proposed Higher Learning Commission policy change on recruiting, admissions and related enrollment practices, including with respect to support functions currently provided by Kaplan Inc. The committee will consist of board members Paul Bott (chair), Mike Klipsch and Hoyne.

Trustees also approved updates to the Faculty Governance Manual, including changes to committee rosters, position title changes, descriptive language and specifications around the faculty’s duties and responsibilities through shared governance and the chancellor’s ability to adjust a committee’s roster at their discretion to meet the committee’s needs.

Additionally, Chancellor Frank Dooley updated the board on student success statistics related to first-term persistence, one-year retention, graduation rates and credentials awarded. Among them:

  • First-term persistence has improved over the last four years among students pursuing  an associate degree (66% vs. 52%), students pursuing a bachelor’s degree (71% vs. 61%) and students pursuing a master’s degree (84% vs. 83%).
