Spring Fling set for Thursday
Spring Fling, the annual appreciation event for faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees, is set for 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday (May 23) at and around Memorial Mall.
Registration is not required for bingo, disc golf, yard games, fitness classes, lunch and the Bloodmobile. The Bloodmobile is accepting appointments, which can be scheduled online. Walk-ins are also welcome.
As part of the celebration, Recreation and Wellness is waiving the daily guest pass fee for faculty and staff. The offer can be redeemed by presenting a Purdue ID at the member services desk in the Co-Rec.
Faculty, staff and retirees can enter drawings for door prizes by printing and completing the door prize entry form. Entry forms must be brought to Spring Fling and deposited at the information table by 2 p.m.
Because of the high volume of traffic expected for Spring Fling, drivers and pedestrians should use caution while traveling on campus.
All staff can attend Spring Fling without loss of pay, vacation or personal holiday time, according to university policy. To accommodate all visitors, most campus parking will be relaxed during the event. ADA and metered parking will still be monitored, and the Grant Street Parking Garage is closed for the summer.
To facilitate Spring Fling attendance, Human Resources offers the following guidelines:
- Attendance is covered in “worked regular” pay status for staff attending during normally scheduled work hours.
- Temporary staff can attend as work schedules permit, but not in pay status.
- Staff scheduled on the evening or night shifts and those not normally scheduled to work May 23 are invited to attend.
- Staff are not expected to return to work if one hour or less remains in their workday.
- Staff on vacation or sick leave on May 23 should remain on such status for the day. Regular pay status is not applicable for such staff.
