Purdue announces promotions for Indianapolis and West Lafayette
Michael B. Cline, left, and Jay Wasson are promoted within Administrative Operations to help promote Purdue’s growth in Indianapolis.
Two senior leaders are being promoted as the university continues efforts to expand development and growth of the Indianapolis campus, Purdue’s top priority and most important opportunity.
Michael B. Cline, senior vice president for Administrative Operations and chief operating officer for Indianapolis, becomes executive vice president and chief executive officer for Indianapolis, a role in which he will assume primary responsibility for shaping the future success of Purdue’s Indianapolis campus.
Jay Wasson, vice president for physical facilities and chief public safety officer, becomes senior vice president for Administrative Operations, where he assumes oversight and responsibility for all administrative operations. Wasson will remain the university’s chief public safety officer.
Cline and Wasson will each report to the president.
“Mike has spent the past year evaluating the strengths and needs of the Indianapolis operation and is ready to work full time to ensure the campus meets the university’s vision for success,” Purdue President Mitch Daniels said in announcing the promotions.
David Umulis, senior vice provost for Indianapolis, will continue to lead Purdue’s academic mission in Indianapolis, providing strategic direction across the academic, student experience and research functions there.
“Success in Indianapolis will require a host of aggressive but carefully coordinated initiatives across academic and physical growth,” Daniels said. “David has devoted more time and attention than any single person these past years and is an indispensable part of Indy’s future academic growth. Mike will hold ultimate accountability for success of the overall product across all functions.”
