This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Purdue Today’s “Thumbs Up” series gives faculty and staff members the opportunity to recognize, thank and congratulate others for their outstanding service, support and performance across the Purdue system. This week’s “Thumbs Up” recipients are:

Tim Bertsch

Well done, Tim (Admissions), for leading the development and execution of “Our State. Your Purdue. Week.” This new weeklong initiative encouraging in-state students to apply to Purdue brought in over 200 Indiana students, plus their families! It is so important to provide opportunities for our Indiana students to really get to know the breadth and quality of what Purdue has to offer, and we appreciate the creativity, coordination and hard work that went into making this multifaceted program a success! — David Bowker (Engineering)

Jim Lane

I would like to recognize Jim (Engineering Technology) for his dedication and hands-on support of our labs. Jim recently took the initiative to completely clean and organize the Fluid Power Lab support room, working with students and faculty to determine what we needed to keep and what could be removed. Using his experience and expertise, he completed the effort within just a couple of weeks and positioned the space to support the lab until its future renovation. Jim has also been instrumental in repairing equipment in the Applied Energy Lab and played a major role in preparing our facilities for the Eplan and Rittal ribbon-cutting event that celebrated the naming of two School of Engineering Technology labs. Jim is always willing to lend his expertise wherever it is needed. We greatly appreciate everything he does for SoET and will certainly miss him when he retires next year! — Dustin Schultz (Engineering Technology)

Indianapolis Fall Launch Committee

A huge “Thumbs Up” goes to members of the Indianapolis Fall Launch Committee — Patrick Francis (Office of the Provost), Sherrie Tucker (Engineering), Katie Zabriskie (Science), Christine Anne Warnock (Mechanical Engineering), Darla Mazur (Industry Partnerships), Garrett Colón (Liberal Arts), Jordan Grammas (Disability Resource Center), Tracey Birdwell (Center for Instructional Excellence), Megan Birner (Administrative Operations), and Libby Hetler and Sharel Welch (both Purdue Brand Studio) — for orchestrating an extraordinary Fall Launch: Welcome Back + Orientation Open House! Through tireless dedication, thoughtful coordination and collaborative spirit, this phenomenal team delivered an engaging, seamless experience welcoming our Purdue faculty and staff to Indianapolis. Their hard work achieved remarkable, measurable results: Participants gave the event an outstanding 93% exceptional satisfaction rating, and 93% reported that the information received was extremely or very valuable. From coordinating detailed, logistical planning to creating a warm, vibrant atmosphere, this committee exemplified teamwork, service excellence and genuine community commitment.
