This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients
Purdue Today’s “Thumbs Up” series gives faculty and staff members the opportunity to recognize, thank and congratulate others for their outstanding service, support and performance across the Purdue system. This week’s “Thumbs Up” recipients are:
Steve Hinz
I’d like to thank Steve (IT End User Experience) for the outstanding job he did organizing the instrumentation area in the Robert E. Heine Pharmacy Building, Room 416B. The area had become a tangled mess of cables, with wires knotted together and equipment connected in a confusing way. Steve carefully sorted everything, labeled cables, bundled and coiled excess wire, and created a neat, organized setup that is much easier to use and maintain. His attention to detail made a tremendous difference. Thank you, Steve, for taking on a challenging project and doing it so well. — Susan Holladay (Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology)
Grounds crew
I want to extend a big thank-you to the Grounds crew members for trimming the brush along the wrought iron fence by the Veterinary Pathobiology Research Building and the Reed Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. This makes a huge difference in the safety of backing out of parking spots because we couldn’t see around the trees and brush. It looks so much better; thank you for making the parking lot a lot safer for all of us. — Eva Tatman (IT End User Experience)
Aaron Pearson and Raven Wiegand
The Office of Graduate Admissions would like to express great appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Aaron and Raven (both Graduate Admissions) during our Technolutions Slate annual update. Our Slate team completed over 100 annual update requests from our systemwide graduate programs and implemented a major upgrade to query functionality, all while meeting our July 1 go-live deadline. The extremely high level of customer service provided, as well as the after-hours work involved for successful implementation, is beyond measure. I am thankful to work with such a great Slate team that surpasses expectations again and again and again. — JoAnne Miller (Graduate Admissions)
Bob Sutton
I would like to recognize Bob (Engineering Technology) for his outstanding commitment to supporting the School of Engineering Technology. Bob has led the effort to organize assets from South Bend, creating a comprehensive asset database and developing a departmental operating procedure that will continue to benefit our team for years to come. His attention to detail, discipline in following established procedures and commitment to building sustainable processes have brought organization and accountability to a challenging undertaking. Bob also consistently goes above and beyond to support our operations. During the hottest week of the year so far, he personally delivered and unloaded approximately 20 lab benches between Indianapolis and West Lafayette. Bob helped the department save money while ensuring valuable equipment remained available for instructional use. What impresses me most is that Bob accomplishes all of this with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. His work ethic, stewardship and willingness to do whatever is needed to support our students, faculty and labs make a meaningful difference every day. I am extremely grateful for Bob and all that he does. — Dustin Schultz (Engineering Technology)
Tony Hayden
Tony (IT End User Experience) is always quick to respond to our computer issues. He is helpful, explains problems in simple terms and resolves them quickly. He has supported our department many times, making it difficult to highlight just one example. He consistently arrives with a positive attitude, engages well with the staff and is always willing to help. Thumbs up, Tony! — Laura Miller (Instructional Data Processing)
Penny Haddock
Penny works in the Executive Offices Business Operations Center, providing finance and business support to our team. I would like to recognize Penny for her outstanding support and dedication. She consistently responds to questions promptly, provides thorough and easy-to-understand explanations, and is always willing to help. Her proactive reminders for credit card reconciliations help keep everyone on track, and she is an invaluable resource for our team. Penny is kind, approachable and demonstrates excellent follow-through on every request. She has a strong understanding of her role and ensures tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Her professionalism, reliability and commitment make a positive impact every day, and we are fortunate to have her help our team. — Lisa Roark (Technical Assistance Program)
