Staff & Student Bowling League invites new players to join; meeting today

The Purdue University Staff & Student Bowling League, a tradition starting in 1938, is inviting new members to join. There is a callout and captains’ meeting at 6:30 p.m. today (Aug. 17) at Mike Aulby’s Arrowhead Bowl, 2331 Brothers Drive in Lafayette, where rosters will be set.

The league takes place each Monday from 6:30-9 p.m. starting Aug. 24 and ending in April — approximately 30 weeks with breaks for the holidays. Each night of bowling costs $17.

This is a relaxed mixed-gender league open to Purdue employees and their immediate families, Purdue students and spouses, and Purdue retirees. Bowling ability of participants varies, and the fun and social interaction of recreation is emphasized.

A team can have up to 10 members, and four or five bowl on any given night. Therefore, part-time bowlers are encouraged to join since some cannot bowl every week.

New teams or unattached new bowlers should attend the meeting or contact the league’s secretary and treasurer, Robert Cox, before then.
