Office of Research announces preproposal deadlines for Kinley and Showalter Trust programs

Purdue’s Office of Research is accepting preproposals for two internal funding opportunities that support innovative faculty research: the Clifford B. Kinley Trust and the Ralph W. and Grace M. Showalter Research Trust programs.

These competitive programs provide support for faculty research surrounding the improvement of human health.

Clifford B. Kinley Trust

The Clifford B. Kinley Trust supports research that uses a social science perspective to explore methods for improving the human condition. The competition is open to tenure-track, tenure, research and clinical faculty on the West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses. Awards are limited to $25,000 for a one-year project period.

Preproposals are due by 5 p.m. ET, Oct. 19.

Faculty selected through the preproposal process will be invited to submit full proposals in mid-December.

Showalter Research Trust

The Ralph W. and Grace M. Showalter Research Trust supports research with direct relevance to human health, including projects in disease prevention, diagnosis or treatment; environmental health; biochemistry and molecular biology; food safety; and medical instrumentation. Eligibility is limited to tenure-track and research faculty at Purdue’s West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses. Funding requests may be up to $100,000.

Showalter preproposals are due by 5 p.m. ET, Oct 26.

Selected investigators will be notified in December to submit full proposals in January 2027. Program details and application information are available on the Showalter Research Trust webpage.
