Google Cloud fundamentals training for researchers set for Aug. 19

Purdue researchers are invited to participate in a free, instructor-led virtual training on Google Cloud Platform from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 19).

The introductory course will focus on using Google Cloud to ingest, manage and analyze structured and unstructured research data. Topics will include:

  • Google Cloud tools for academic and scientific research
  • Data storage using Cloud Storage and BigQuery
  • Access and security controls for research data
  • Cost management and research budget optimization
  • Jupyter Notebook environments
  • Google Cloud machine learning tools and pipelines

The training is intended for researchers, data scientists and other academic professionals interested in using Google Cloud for research. Participants should have basic knowledge of SQL and programming, along with a general understanding of machine learning concepts. 

The session is limited to 100 Purdue participants and is being offered at no cost. Register online.
