This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Eva Tatman, Bill Kielhorn, Susan Xioufaridou, Andrea Kellogg and Alondra Sager

The College of Veterinary Medicine held its annual PVM Research Day on April 10. It went off without a hitch due to Eva and Bill (both IT End User Experience), Susan (Alumni Relations and Special Events), and Andrea and Alondra (both Lifelong Learning) assisting me in this daylong event. Thank you all so much. — Joy Nix (Basic Medical Sciences)

Iris Butterfield

A big thank-you and shoutout to Iris (IT End User Experience) for going above and beyond on a last-minute computer order! With quotes set to expire the same day, she jumped in quickly, stayed on top of the details and kept everything moving without missing a beat. Thanks to her quick action and attention to detail, the order was finalized in time — avoiding the need to restart the quoting process and preventing additional costs. Her dedication and willingness to step in under pressure made a meaningful impact. I truly appreciate your quick thinking and teamwork, Iris; thank you for making it happen! — Margaret Anderson (IT End User Experience)

Victor Lasic and Brooke De La Cruz

We wanted to take a moment and give recognition to Victor and Brooke (both Building Services). We want you both to know how great you’re doing in your new roles. Starting somewhere fresh is never easy, but both of you have jumped in and made it look effortless. Your hard work is clearly showing, and your willingness and ability to learn so quickly have made you a positive addition to Building Services. We are proud to have you both on our team. — Alex Serrano, Amanda Treadway and Natalie Devine (all Building Services)

Angie Teel

Angie (History) not only maintained her regular daily responsibilities at a high level but also willingly assumed additional duties that would otherwise have required my direct attention. Her initiative and exceptional team-first attitude allowed me to dedicate critical time to the ADA compliance project. As a direct result of her willingness to go above and beyond, I was able to complete substantially more work than would have otherwise been possible. Her outstanding support made a meaningful impact on the project’s progress. Thanks, Angie! — Robin Sipes (History)

Chris Runk and Stacy Gray

I would like to recognize Chris and Stacy (both Finance and Business Operations) for their incredible dedication to the Executive Offices Business Operations Center. They are consistently the first to volunteer whenever help is needed, never shying away from a challenge. Their proactive nature and willingness to jump in set a wonderful example of teamwork for our entire office. Thank you both for everything you do! — Crystal Duncan (Finance and Business Operations)

Tricia Harlow and Kasey Richardson

Tricia and Kasey (both Registrar) have done 11 myPurduePlan refresher trainings for the College of Engineering in the last couple of weeks. This involved trekking to computer labs all over campus, presenting incredibly valuable information and fielding questions from our varied areas. The conversations were so beneficial to our academic advisors, which in turn makes them beneficial to all of our students. We appreciate your efforts and the time invested in this training! — Nate Engelberth and Caryn Morgan (both Engineering)

Samuel Chinn

Samuel (Operations and Maintenance) from Zone 8 rocks. Sam was efficient when fixing our water bottle refill drinking fountain in Beering Hall. I want to express my sincere appreciation for your help. You made a real difference. — Nancy McNeely (Education)

Vincent Lobello and Adam Gillette

Last semester, the Department of Theatre and Dance graciously allowed members of the Campus Connections Club access to the scenery construction shop in Pao Hall to construct game boards for the ancient Ashanti game of Oware. Vincent, staff technical director in the Rueff School for Design, Art, and Performance; and Adam, graduate assistant in the Rueff School, shared their time and expertise to coach a group of students from around the world on how to safely use various power tools. For many club members, this was their first time using power tools or doing any woodworking. We especially appreciated this behind-the-scenes look at theater production. At this year’s Spring Fest, club members were able to share their creations with visitors, sparking wonderful conversations across generations and cultures. Vince and Adam’s patience (and bravery) made these connections possible! Thank you! — C. Joseph Sorell (Purdue Language and Cultural Exchange)

Jeff Deitrick and Travis Kirby

The Daniels School of Business’ poster printer recently needed to be replaced. Jeff (IT End User Experience) stepped up right away to assess my need for a new one, took charge of ordering the new one, and with Travis’ (IT End User Experience) help, installed it for me the day it arrived. Great job, guys! Jeff and Travis are a wonderful asset to the Daniels School. — Tom Brown (Daniels School Copy Center)
