Purdue prepares for 13th Day of Giving
On Wednesday (April 29) Boilermakers around the globe are encouraged to make victories possible during the university’s 13th Purdue Day of Giving.
The 24-hour online, social media-driven fundraising effort encompasses all of Purdue’s locations — Purdue’s main campus (West Lafayette, Indianapolis and online), Purdue Fort Wayne, Purdue Northwest and Purdue Global. Purdue alumni, friends, faculty, staff, retirees, students, parents, fans and community members are encouraged to “be Boilermaker heroes” by making a gift.
Participation in hourly challenges allows donors to increase their impact and help their favorite unit (campus, college, school, program, club or student organization) win bonus funds throughout the day. Each gift also boosts a unit’s position on donation and participation leaderboards for additional bonus funds.
During the evening, the Boilermaker community is invited to Stadium Nights — a Purdue University celebration under the lights of Ross-Ade Stadium. The free event is open to the public and will take place from 6-9:30 p.m.
The first portion of the evening will include a carnival for students and a showing of the movie “First Man” on the jumbotron. Special programming will begin at 8:30 p.m. As part of Purdue Day of Giving, two lucky Purdue students will be given the chance to earn $10,000 scholarships. The excitement will continue with President Mung Chiang and special guests honoring America’s 250th birthday and the university’s contributions to our nation’s history. A dazzling fireworks show will close out the night.
Purdue Day of Giving has grown consistently since its debut in 2014, when the event raised $7.5 million. Last year, a record-breaking 36,875 gifts generated $105.1 million for the university — bringing Purdue Day of Giving’s cumulative total since its launch to $602.1 million.
