Appointments, honors and activities
- Qinglan (Priscilla) Ding, associate professor in the School of Nursing was selected by the American College of Cardiology to participate in its inaugural Fuster Prevention Forum in Washington in June. The in-person, two-day educational course focused on early cardiovascular disease prevention. Participants who complete the course are recognized as experts in primordial prevention and can return to their communities with the skills and strategies they need to implement community-based prevention initiatives and build heart–healthy communities.
- Julian Gallegos, assistant professor in the School of Nursing, will become the next president-elect of the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN). Gallegos, who currently serves as an at-large member on the AAMN board, will officially begin his two-year term as president-elect at the 51st annual AAMN Conference, Oct. 15-17 in Las Vegas.
- Dan Rubin, continuing lecturer of actuarial science, has been named the next director of Purdue’s Actuarial Science Program, effective this summer. Jointly administered by Purdue’s Departments of Mathematics and Statistics, the Actuarial Science Program is consistently recognized among the nation’s best and is designated as a Center of Actuarial Excellence by the Society of Actuaries.
