Appointments, honors and activities
- Laura Elenbaas, assistant professor of human development and family science, is the recipient of the Jean Piaget Society’s 2026 Early Career Award in Developmental Science. Established in 2021, the award recognizes the recipient’s career trajectory within 10 years of receiving their PhD. Elenbaas joined Department of Human Development and Family Science in 2023.
- Tasha DeWitt and Chelsea Taulman, both clinical assistant professors in the School of Nursing, are the 2026 recipients of the Class of 1922 Outstanding Innovation in Helping Students Learn Award. DeWitt and Taulman were recognized for their innovative development of nursing education in their paper “Bridging the Gap: Integrating Spontaneous Scenarios Early in Undergraduate Nursing Curriculum.”
- Elyson De La Cruz, a faculty member in Purdue Global’s School of Business and Information Technology, was recently named a recipient of OnCon Icon’s Top 10 Information Security Professional Award.
- The College of Health and Human Sciences has appointed Chad Carroll, associate professor of health and kinesiology, as Dean’s Fellow and first director of the Health of the Forces initiative.
- The School of Nursing has earned the Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, recognizing its excellence in simulation-based education and commitment to preparing practice-ready nurses. This prestigious endorsement affirms the school’s leadership in simulation design, facilitation and debriefing, and it highlights innovative programs, such as its virtual reality heart initiative, that bring immersive, active learning to the curriculum.
