This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients

Trees and an academic building on Purdue University during the winter season.

Melissa Guinn

I want to give a big thank-you to Melissa (Finance). Her patience in familiarizing me with financial systems and processes is top shelf. She took time to walk our team through several complexities and find new efficiencies. She never hesitates to answer questions and is incredibly knowledgeable about business processes. Thanks, Melissa! — Cookie Bryant-Gawthrop (Biological Sciences)

Katie Wantz

Katie (Financial Aid) and I started our Division of Financial Aid journey together, and I can honestly say she’s been instrumental in my success. Her kindness, energy and dynamic presence make her such a valuable member of our team. The notes she shared during our training have been a lifesaver, and over the past seven months, her willingness to share knowledge and support has made all the difference. I truly couldn’t manage without her. Thank you, Katie, for everything you do! — Tessa Winkler (Financial Aid)

Purdue IT’s Audio Visual Services team

Just wanted to thank AV Services! When we realized that one of our teaching lab computer display systems wasn’t working at 4 p.m. on a Friday, we emailed AV Services for help but had major concerns about this space being ready for a full day of classes starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Cameron Forbes and the team at AV Services were on it before 8 a.m. on Monday and had the system up and working for our classes the first day back! We’re so grateful for your help. — Barclay Gibbs (Hospitality and Tourism Management)

Ethan Post

A huge thank-you to Ethan (Operations and Maintenance) from the Electrical Shop for his outstanding work and exceptional attention to detail in our University Residences showroom in Wiley Hall, Room C219. We needed three electrical outlets installed behind furniture and decor that were certainly not easy to move. We fully expected that once the work was complete, we would need to rearrange the furniture and plug everything back in ourselves. Instead, we were pleasantly surprised to find the showroom in perfect order — furniture placed exactly where it belonged, bedding perfectly arranged, and all lights plugged in and turned on. Ethan’s attention to detail is truly appreciated. The room was immediately ready for guests to visit. Thank you, Ethan, for going above and beyond! — Kimberly Lanoue (University Residences)

All involved in the cleanup effort at Hillenbrand Dining Court

We would like to give a big thank-you to everyone who helped clean up the ceiling leak at Hillenbrand Dining Court, especially Environmental Health and Safety, Trevor Blackwood (Residential Housing Operations) and Building Services. Their hard work made it possible for us to reopen with to-go service that same night. They continued working through the week and over break until the issue was resolved. We are ever grateful for their teamwork and support in helping us get through a tough situation. — Eric Coates (Hillenbrand Dining)

Sam Brown, David Mateos, Corey Reichenberg, Nathan Pillion and Aaron Dyer

Huge thanks to Sam, David, Corey, Nathan and Aaron (all Purdue IT) for their help with remapping our office’s network drive. Their responsiveness and problem-solving helped us work through a few hiccups and get our team fully back up and running. We truly appreciate your assistance. Thank you for the great work! — Office of Summer and Winter Sessions
