Faculty, staff, alumni and students recently celebrated 20 years of research achievements at the Bindley Bioscience Center.
The festivities started Oct. 2 with Purdue leadership, faculty and alumni gathering for an evening of dinner, networking, and a discussion on the shared vision and founding of the Bindley Bioscience Center. Some honored guests in attendance were donor and alumnus Bill Bindley, former Purdue President Martin Jischke, and past and current Board of Trustees chairs Tim McGinley and Gary Lehman.
The following day was a all-day symposium with Purdue faculty, staff and students.
President Mung Chiang opened the event, followed by talks from Bindley’s faculty partners discussing their research across the spectrum of life sciences, including plant disease and development, toxicology and pharmacology, and new tools for combatting cancer.
Students who had collaborated with Bindley’s research core facilities were invited to present posters of their current research at the symposium. Both graduate and undergraduate students presented posters, and four poster awards were given out to support conference travel for the students. Awards were given in the categories of: Chemistry and Biochemistry, Imaging Across Scales, Cellular Biology, and Animal Models.
