This week’s ‘Thumbs Up’ recipients
Scott Sproles
Some academic advisors in Computer and Information Technology are moving offices. Some are getting alternate office furniture. Building deputy Scott Sproles (Polytechnic Institute) provided tools, brawn and brains to coordinate a morning move that could have taken all day. Scott is the backbone to Dudley, Knoy and Lambertus halls. — Computer and Information Technology Advising
Annice Willard
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Annice (Computer Science) for her outstanding support throughout our recent efforts at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Her help was instrumental in setting up computer labs, conference rooms and many other spaces throughout the Engineering Science and Technology building for the upcoming fall semester. As someone highly familiar with the building and its various rooms, Annice has been an invaluable resource, providing directions, keeping me informed about the arrival status of critical materials and generously offering access to her tools, which greatly assisted in the efficient assembly of furniture and equipment. Her friendly, helpful and welcoming attitude made a meaningful difference to both me and my team. Thank you, Annice! — Joey Xie (Computer Science)
Rob Meagher
A big thank-you to Rob (Purdue IT) and his team for their tremendous support in preparing the computer labs in the Engineering Science and Technology building at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Rob’s team played a key role in delivering, unloading and installing computers, furniture and essential equipment, helping us move forward efficiently and effectively. Beyond that, they provided critical assistance in rewiring the labs for networking, ensuring that connections were in the right locations and significantly improving both the appearance and functionality of the spaces. Due to their efforts, the labs are now much better equipped for classes and instruction, and the environment is more conducive to student learning. We in Computer Science are incredibly grateful for their hard work in helping us get everything ready for the fall semester. — Joey Xie (Computer Science)
William Guillen and Jael Sprau
Thank you, William and Jael (both Building Services), for your dedicated efforts on Aug. 3 in ensuring the Purdue Memorial Union was thoroughly cleaned despite being understaffed. Your diligent work ethic greatly contributed to our preparedness for the day. — Terrin Schieler (Building Services)
Lauren Stearns, Kelli Stacey, Scott Gilkey and Trevor Miller
We had a huge audience for a two-day educational training at Stewart Center. Lauren (Purdue Conferences) did a phenomenal job helping us in coordinating the space, assisting with room layouts, supplying diagrams and getting us in touch with Aramark for catering. Kelli (Administrative Services) did a wonderful job coordinating our campus guests and helped with logistics, materials and additional handouts for our internal and external campus partners. Everything was set up perfectly for presentations and workshops. Scott and Trevor (both Operations and Maintenance) quickly addressed a temperature control issue for us and did a wonderful job assisting our team. Thank you all for your help! — Jacob Garis, Marty Hitchcock and Kirsten Koontz (all Analytics and Information Management)

Thank you for your valuable contribution and for exemplifying the spirit of collaboration. — Caleb Koontz (Operations and Maintenance)
Heather Anthrop
Keeping one department organized is hard enough. When two departments merge to become a new school, that’s a challenge. Computer Graphics Technology and Computer and Information Technology merged to become the School of Applied and Creative Computing this summer. A great deal of background planning and organization has taken place, and at the heart of all this activity is Heather, executive assistant for the school’s West Lafayette location. She has professionally guided office changes and strategic resource consolidation, all with a positive and open mind. This new school is off on the right start thanks in part to Heather’s dedication. — T.R. Oneal (Polytechnic Institute)
