Los Alamos officials visit Purdue to expand research collaborations

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Associate Laboratory Director Mark Chadwick visited Purdue Sept. 18 and 19 to advance the growing Purdue-LANL partnership and explore opportunities tied to the recently signed memorandum of understanding.

Joined by LANL colleagues including Bob Putnam and Brad Beck, Chadwick met with Purdue research leaders and faculty across key national security thrust areas — AI, energetics, advanced materials, hypersonics and nuclear energy — while also touring campus facilities such as the university’s nuclear reactor PUR-1, the Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories, and the Hypersonics and Applied Research Facility.

A highlight of the visit was Chadwick’s Purdue Engineering Frontiers Lecture, “Los Alamos & Purdue: Collaborations Beginning With Our Journey in Nuclear Fusion, to Today’s Mission Needs,” which drew faculty, students and staff interested in deepening collaborations that address pressing national defense challenges.
