Each chapter includes an Essential Question that aligns to the Framework for P-12 Engineering Learning, designed by Advancing Excellence in P-12 Engineering Education and the American Society for Engineering Education research collaborative, encouraging students to think critically about how the chapter concepts relate to a student’s life.

About the Purdue author

Greg Strimel is an associate professor in the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation, as well as the interim head of the department. His research is focused on enhancing the teaching of design and innovation across P-12 and post-secondary education by studying design-based instructional interventions and design cognition. Strimel has received numerous honors during his career, including Purdue’s Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award, Council on Technology & Engineering Teacher Education’s Outstanding Research Award and a Distinguished Technology & Engineering Educator designation from the International Technology & Engineering Educators Association.
